Purpose

The term "faculty study" refers to an enclosed, lockable space with a study desk in which library materials may be used and secured. To provide equitable use of a very limited number of such studies, the following policies and procedures have been established.

Policy

The Associate Dean of Libraries for Public Services is responsible for the assignment of faculty studies, in consultation with faculty members serving on the University Library Committee when necessary.

Assignments are made based upon a particular need to work intensely with the library collection for a specific length of time. Assignments are made for one academic quarter and the intersession immediately following. Renewals are permissible.

Because of the limited number of faculty studies, two individuals are assigned to each space.

Procedures

Applications for use of a faculty study are considered at the beginning of each academic quarter. A $5.00 key deposit is required and will be refunded upon the return of the key.
